HIV selftest
With this selftest you can get tested for HIV. It is a rapid test where you perform the test and read the result yourself. You can execute the HIV test yourself at a time that suits you best and the entire process of the test takes only a few minutes.
How does the HIV selftest work:
When you have placed the order, you will receive the test at the address you indicated. The test package is sent to you in a discrete blank package. The logo or the name of De Tester is not visible on the package.
After the arrival of the test package, you perform the test yourself using a clear user guide. You can then read the results yourself within a few minutes from the test-kit.
The HIV test consists of a paper test strip in a plastic cassette. The HIV test is performed by applying a small drop of blood to the test strip, followed by a few drops of test liquid (diluent). When the test is complete, two lines may appear on the paper strip. One visible control line means the diluent has been applied correctly and the test is working properly. The test line only becomes visible if the applied sample contains antibodies against HIV, a positive test.
A positive test result of the HIV selftest
If the test result is positive, it means that HIV antibodies have been detected in your blood and we recommend that you contact your doctor or an HIV consultant as soon as possible.
A negative test result
If the test result is negative, it means that no HIV antibodies have been detected in the blood. It is important here that the window phase is taken into account.
Please see the tabs “Window phase HIV”, “Reliability” and “Content” for additional information.
